Conformers

 

Simple closure of the eyelids after the conformer is slipped into place usually indicates proper fit. Most of the conformers have one, three and five drainage holes to allow mucous release to escape and to facilitate the insertion of postoperative medication. Such eyes shall accurately fit to socket contour and comfortably fill the depths of the fornices without stretching them. With the proper fitting of such eyes may easily close of eyelids while it is going to sleep.

  • Conformers are used in patients with chemo tic preleasing conjunctivas
  • They are used for avoidance of the cul-de-sacs following chemical burns or traumatic avulsion of the conjunctiva
  • They are also used after placing of certain implants with a force dressing to lessen edema
